The licensing qualifications are offered by a range of awarding organisations. Each one is regulated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority and the training their centres deliver is governed by the delivery and assessment strategy developed by People 1st, the Sector Skills Council.
There are four awarding organisations permitted to offer licensing awards in Scotland. Each of these organisations has an entry on this website. Each AO must:
- Develop training materials that support their award
- Develop a handbook that accompanies the training within their centres
- Ensure that the quality of the training offered by their centre is of a suitable standard
- Ensure that the trainers working in those centres meet a standard of professional competence and have knowledge of the award they deliver.
