This section contains information about the standards for the Personal Licence Holders Award and the Personal Licence Holders Award (Refresher) training.
In order to become a Personal Licence Holder (PLH) there is a legal requirement to undertake training under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005. The Personal Licence Holder completes the required training programme with assessment and, following successful completion of the assessment, is issued with a certificate by an accredited awarding organisation. This is then submitted to the local licensing board and, as long as certain criteria are met, a personal licence is issued.

SCPLH (R) Standards
Five years after the date of issue of the Personal Licence, Personal Licence Holders are legally required to undertake Refresher training and pass the SCPLH (R) award.
